Plamen Petrov was born in 1971 in Sofia. Petrov started playing the guitar at the age of 12 years. In 2000, he graduated from the National Academy of Music “Pancho Vladigerov” – Sofia in pop and jazz guitar. Five years later, Petrov received also a master’s degree. Beside pop and jazz, he also plays classical guitar. His creative interests include different styles, but his preferences lead him to jazz. The musician was part of some jazz and rock formations in Bulgaria as well as abroad. He played with different rock groups in Hong Kong, Great Britain, Norway, the Netherlands, Estonia. He took part in the Bulgarian performance of the opera “Jesus Christ Superstar”, in the “Jazz Time” show on Bulgarian National Television and the “Spontaneously After Midnight” show on Bulgarian National Radio and many others. He played in concerts as a solo performer as well as a big band member in Great Britain and Italy In 2001, he created the “Plamen Petrov Trio” in whose framework he played on many festival and club stages (International Jazz Festival – Bansko, Rousse, Haskovo, etc.). His discography includes three albums with his works: “With the Moon Alone Together” (2001) in trio formation; “Tell Me About You” (2014) together with the musicians Mihail Yosifov, Hristo Yotsov, Atanas Hadjiev and Boris Taslev; “See the World” (2016) – music for two guitars which he plays in concerts together with Milena Valcheva. Since 2007 he started working as a teacher, and from 2011 on, he teaches at Rock School – Sofia.
Plamen Petrov is the author of over 300 compositions in different styles for classical or acoustic guitar in solo, duo or trio, as well as jazz pieces. His music and performances, including the tunes published in this collection, are available on his channel on YouTube.
