Andrés Olmos, from San Luis Potosí, México, is a guitarist and composer focused mainly on contemporary classical music. He began his studies at "Casa de Cultura del Barrio de San Miguelito" with maestro Carlos Iván de León Santoyo, continuing his training at "Escuela Estatal de Iniciación Musical Julián Carrillo with maestro Emmanuel Mendoza Lara and later with Mtro. Francisco Sifuentes at “Centro de las Artes de San Luis Potosí".
Andrés Olmos got a Bachelor's Degree in Music at the Institute of Fine Arts of the University of Colima, under the tutelage of Italian guitarist and composer Simone Iannarelli.
During his career, he has perfected his training as a guitarist in master classes and courses with teachers such as Pepe Romero, David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, Aniello Desiderio, Carlo Marchione, Anton Baranov, Finn Svit, Margarita Escarpa, Pedro Mateo González, Guillermo González Phillips, Ernesto García de León, among others.
As a guitarist, he has won several prizes in state and national competitions of musical interpretation in Mexico.
Andrés Olmos also studied as a composer, being a private student of Dr. José Luis Hurtado (Mexico/USA; PhD in Composition at Harvard University); he also receives revision and advice on his pieces from Mtro. Simone Iannarelli.
He has got several prizes in musical composition, such as:
- Honorific Mention in the "20 de Noviembre"; Contest within the Julián Carrillo category of Musical Composition. San Luis Potosí, November 2023.
- 2nd prize in the Classical Guitar Composition Competition of the "Aalborg Guitar Festival Competitions" held in Aalborg, Denmark. November, 2023.
His music has been performed in several countries, including Mexico, Spain, Brazil, Italy, and the Czech Republic.
