Collection: Frandsen, Matthew
Matthew Frandsen was born in Denmark in 1978. He began his musical career as a marching band drummer. Later he took up playing classical percussion, piano and composing. He has composed for a range of instruments: the hallmarks of his compositions are rhythmic drive, horizontal lines and lopsided chords, linked to texts written by himself. The texts are about human nature, interaction and especially one’s relation to the disadvantaged.
Frandsen studied composition at The Royal Academy of Music Aarhus under Simon Steen-Andersen, and public health science at the University of Copenhagen.
