Winner of the Artist s International Auditions (New York), Concorso Sor (Rome), Young Musicians Prize and prize winner at the competitions of Salieri-Zinetti, Paris, Montélimar, Valencia, Sernancelhe among others, Pedro Rodrigues began his musical career at the age of 5, having studied with José Mesquita Lopes at the Escola de Música do Orfeão de Leiria where he finished his studies with the maximum classification as a scholarship holder of the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Later he studied with Alberto Ponce at the École Normale de Musique in Paris where he received the Concert Superior Diplomas in Chamber Music and Guitar Performance, the latter with the maximum classification, unanimously and with the congratulations of the jury. He participated in masterclasses with David Russell, Leo Brouwer, Joaquin Clerch and Darko Petrinjiak.
Under the guidance of Paulo Vaz de Carvalho and Alberto Ponce he completed his PhD at the University of Aveiro in 2011 with a scholarship from the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. He has performed solo in internationally recognized halls such as the Weill Hall of Carnegie Hall in New York, Salle Cortot in Paris, National Concert Hall of Taipei, Ateneo de Madrid, Sala Manuel de Falla of Madrid, Endler Hall of Cape Town, India International Centre of New Delhi, Sala Raúl Juliá de San Juan, Centro Cultural de Belém, Casa da Música, the Gulbenkian Foundation's Grand Auditorium, and the festivals of Mikulov, Paris, Santo Tirso, Música Viva, Sernancelhe, Caruso Festival, Miguel Llobet, Forfest Kromeriz, Vital Medeiros, among others. He has premiered more than 60 works by the most important Portuguese composers such as João Pedro Oliveira, Cândido Lima, Isabel Soveral, Sara Carvalho, Sérgio Azevedo, José Luís Ferreira, António Sousa Dias, Carlos Caires among others. Many of these works were dedicated to him.

He has made recordings for RTP, RDP, RTM, SABC, Cesky Rozhlas, WIPR and has recorded with Numérica, Nuova Venezia, Portugaler, Slovartmusic, DME and JNS Music and has been a soloist with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, Filarmonia das Beiras, Orquestra do Algarve, Orquestra de Câmara de Cascais e Oeiras among many others. He is also regularly invited to give masterclasses in conservatories and universities in Europe, North and South America, Africa and Asia. His transcriptions and editions are published by Mel Bay Publications, Bergmann Editions, AVA Editions and Notação XXI. As a researcher, he has given lectures in the United States, England, Brazil and Portugal, and his articles have been published in journals such as Soundboard Scholar (USA) and Vortex (Brazil). Recently he created and presented the program "Six Strings for One Country" broadcasted in Antena 2, Portugal. He is currently an Integrated Researcher at INET-md and Assistant Professor at the Department of Communication and Art of the University of Aveiro being the director of the Master's degree course in Music and, since 2019, the artistic director of the Autumn Festivals of the University of Aveiro.
