Ozan Coskun

Ozan Coskun (Coşkun), born in 1993 in Ankara, is a guitarist and composer with a distinguished music career. His professional guitar journey began under the guidance of Prof. Ahmet Kanneci and Prof. Soner Uluocak. In 2013, he commenced his studies at the State Conservatory of Hacettepe University in Ankara, where he studied with Prof. Ahmet Kanneci, a student of José Tomás, one of the leading pioneers of modern guitar technique, as well as with Dr. Soner Uluocak.

After successfully completing his bachelor's degree, he was admitted to the Detmold University of Music, where he studied with Thomas Kirchhoff. During his studies, he performed numerous solo recitals and chamber music projects.

In 2020, he was awarded first prize in the Euro Strings Composition Contest for his work "Two Phantasma." Additionally, he was invited to join the jury of the Euro Strings Composition Contest 2021, which included leading figures in the classical guitar and composition world such as Stephen Goss and Sergio Assad.

The world premiere of Ozan Coşkun's solo guitar piece "Two Phantasmas" took place on Thursday, October 1, 2020, at 8:00 PM at the Musikverein in Vienna, performed by Dávid Fellegi. This hall is a venue where music legends like Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Mendelssohn, and Liszt have performed and presented their works.

During his education, Ozan won numerous awards and competition successes. He received financial support for two projects as part of the North Rhine-Westphalia Cultural Scholarship. Later, he won the prize for the best interpretation of a modern work at the "Alumni Association" interpretation competition of the HfM Detmold. Additionally, on October 29, 2023, he was awarded the "Jungkust" Art Promotion Prize, organized by the Volksbank.

Ozan continues his artistic work and studies in Detmold and is active in ensemble and solo concerts in various parts of Germany. He makes significant contributions to his field by recording his compositions and performing works.

As a film composer, Coşkun has produced music for one documentary, one short film, and one feature film. His works have been presented at film music festivals. Moreover, he has contributed as a musician and arranger to the albums and works of various artists and has led the production of arrangements.

As a composer and guitarist, Ozan has composed music for two films, one documentary, and two theatre productions. With the music for the short film "Çember," he became a finalist for the best film music at the short film competition in Buenos Aires.

In addition to his training as a guitar virtuoso, Ozan worked with professors such as Can Aksel Akın, Önder Özkoç, Argun Defne, and Stephen Goss on topics like transcription, composition techniques, modal and microtonal music during his bachelor's and master's studies.

During his studies, he had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned artists such as Pepe Romero, Jorge Caballero, Goran Krivokapić, Pavel Steidl, Göran Söllscher, Thomas Kirchhoff, Hans Werner Huppertz, Dale Kavanagh, Joaquin Clerch, Olaf Gonnissen-Cornelis, Vural Kahraman, Erkan Mehmet Karagülle, Juan Carlos Navarro and Eren Sualp.

Currently, he is pursuing his second master's degree in chamber music at the HfM Detmold.
