Luca Lampis (b. 1985) is a multifaceted musician who has fused his passion for the guitar with his commitment to composition, teaching, and music production.
His academic training began with a diploma in guitar under the guidance of M° Stefano Cardi, followed by a Master's in composition and interpretation at the Conservatory of Ferrara (Italy), where he graduated with 110 cum laude with a thesis on Johann Sebastian Bach and the works for lute, with a focus on the Suite BWV 995.
Subsequently, he also obtained a Master's degree in 'Educational, psychological and anthropological methodologies and design theory and methods'.
Lampis's training was further enriched by masterclasses with some of the most important international guitarists, including Paul Galbraith, David Russell, Paolo Pegoraro, Walter Zanetti, Xuefei Yang and many others.
His dedication led him to international scholarships, including one at the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain, where he studied with José Luis Rodrigo to further his interpretation of Spanish guitar music.
He then went on to the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in the UK, where he perfected his skills under guitarists such as Mark Ashford and Mark Eden. He also immersed himself in free improvisation with Trevor Lines.
As a teacher, Luca Lampis has taught at prestigious institutions in several countries, including the Istituto Musicale Corelli at the Cesena Conservatory and the Latin American Guitar Festival in Chicago in 2012. He also held a seminar on free improvisation at the University of Cumberlands in Kentucky. And he taught guitar in several schools in the province of Ancona (Italy) and at the Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga Cultural Association in Madrid.
Recently, he has won two national competitions to teach guitar in high and middle Italian national schools with a musical orientation and is currently a guitar teacher at the Liceo Musicale C. Rinaldini in Ancona (Italy).
Parallel to teaching, Lampis has an outstanding concert career, which has seen him perform as a soloist and in classical ensembles in various parts of Europe and the USA.
Since 2005, he has also been active with the alternative/progressive band Nefesh, with which he has explored new sounds and produced five albums, in which he has not only played but also composed, arranged, and written the lyrics. Among his discography, 'Panta Rei' and 'Modern Lieder' stand out. The latter was composed and arranged for the Nefesh Acoustic Duo (classical guitar and voice).
In addition to his career as a guitarist, Luca Lampis has also shown commitment to the world of film and theatre music. He is the composer of the soundtrack for the docu-film 'The Zone - Road to Chernobyl', winner of First Prize at the Cinqueterre Film Festival, distributed on Amazon Prime Video (Italy). He also composed the stage music for Peter Shaffer's play 'Equus', a production that won three prizes out of nine nominations at the La Maschera d'Oro festival in Vicenza (Italy).
His work is not limited to recorded and live music: Lampis also served as artistic director of the music section of the International Art Festival AR[t]CEVIA from 2016 to 2018, a festival dedicated to contemporary art and music.
