Redi Marku was born in 1977 in Pogradec, Albania. At 15, he began lessons in classical guitar and music theory. In 1998 he moved to Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where he continued to study classical guitar at the “Gheorghe Dima” Academy of Music. In 2005 he graduated with a master’s degree in classical guitar. During his years at the academy, he created, played and participated in many concerts organised by the Academy.
In 2006 Redi moved to Tirana to accept a position teaching classical guitar at the Lyceum of Tirana, the most significant music school in Albania. In 2007 he became a professor at the University of Arts in Tirana. Redi has composed many original pieces for the classical guitar, and he has also arranged a significant body of music for the instrument.
