Andreas Merkel
Andreas Merkel was born in Frankfurt/Main. At a very young age, he was taught by his father, who happens to be a guitar professor, in classical guitar playing. After finishing his classical guitar study in Karlsruhe (Germany), he moved on to work as a film composer under the name Andrew Reich. While working on German and American film projects, including productions by major studios like 20th Century Fox and Babelsberg Filmstudios, he stayed with the guitar and works till today as a guitar teacher at music schools. After being nominated in the US for several awards, he was asked to play at several international guitar festivals. He ultimately returned to the classical guitar and started composing and performing his compositions at concerts. Most of his guitar compositions have a Spanish/Latin touch to them.
