Ivan Lyran was born in Belo Horizonte in 1980. He began his piano studies in 1996 with Professor Pedro Valter Rosa. In 2006, he was accredited in the OMB (Order of the Musicians of Brazil). In 2011, he began his studies at the Izabela Hendrix Methodist Institute, where he graduated in 2013 with a degree in Music. Some of his works have been performed not only in Brazil but in countries such as Austria, Argentina, Peru, Spain and Mexico. He studied music composition with the teachers, Avelar Junior, Dr Ronaldo Cadeu de Oliveira PhD and Sérgio de Vasconcellos-Corrêa.
He won the first prize in 2017 iMelody International Composition Contest (Three Brazilian pieces for guitar duo Op. 22). And recently Ivan Lyran won the 2019 McMurry New Music Project with the composition, Poor Dead Flowers, Op. 34a for oboe with piano accompaniment.
