Ivan Lyran

Ivan Lyran was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 1980. He began his piano studies in 1996 under Professor Pedro Valter Rosa. In 2006, he was accredited in the OMB (Order of Musicians of Brazil). In 2011, he began studies at the Izabela Hendrix Methodist Institute, where he graduated in 2013 with a degree in Music. He studied music composition under Avelar Junior, Dr Ronaldo Cadeu de Oliveira PhD and Sérgio de Vasconcellos-Corrêa. His works have been performed both in Brazil and around the world.

Lyran won first prize in the 2017 iMelody International Composition Contest (“Three Brazilian pieces for guitar duo”, Op. 22). More recently, he won the 2019 McMurry New Music Project with the composition “Poor Dead Flowers”, Op. 34a for oboe with piano accompaniment.
