Miguel Herreros

Miguel Herreros Ruiz-Valdepeñas was born on May 28, 1961, in Daimiel, province of Ciudad Real. His first experiences are in the world of popular music. Later, he trained in Jazz at the "musicians' workshop" in Madrid, being part of Rock groups and touring Spain and other countries. A member of the fusion group AURA MSK, he composes various themes for training in his works "CervAntes y después" and the most recent "Troubadours of Love".

In 2016 he faced the composition of the soundtrack of a documentary on bioethics sponsored by the Complutense University entitled "Ser médico" with which he has participated in a contest in New York. With this production company, he is immersed in providing music for a series of four documentaries. The first of them, "Kairos", has just been released.

He regularly collaborates with the Almagro International Theatre Festival, with which he has closed his participation for this edition. He also regularly collaborates with the Ortega-Marañón Foundation on its cultural activities, such as its film and bioethics cycles, as well as its chamber music programmes.

In 2019 he was a finalist in the "Cum laude Music Awards", an international chamber music competition for his work "Triptych" for string quintet with double bass.

In 2020, at the International Composition Competition "Classical Pure Vienna", he received an honourable mention for his work "Fasic" for solo guitar.

In 2021, he was awarded third prize at the ARTE awards for his string quartet "Primary colours".

In 2022, with the 4th and 5th prize in the I Pasodobles contest of Albalat dels Sorrells, Valencia.

In 2023, he is a finalist for the second time in the "Cun laude Music Awards", this time with his String Quintet, "Pandemic Suite", and has been awarded 4th prize in the Pasodoble competition "Pascual Perez Chovi" in Alginet.

In 2024, he was recently awarded the "Grand Prize for Composition" at the Classic pure Vienna Awards for his "Suite Pintoresca" for solo guitar and is a finalist in the I International Pasodobles Competition "Villa de Lorqui".

He was recently a finalist in the New Works Rising competition in Phoenix with his choral work, “Water Suite”.

This year, he is a finalist in the “Symphonina competition 2024” and his composition “Pandemic suite” has been chosen in the Universal Editions list of compositions for peace.
