Peter Rist
Peter Rist is a Canadian born guitarist and composer. Born in Toronto, Canada, in 1964, he began playing the piano at the age of seven, but moved on to the guitar in
his teenage years, drawn to the tradition of improvisation in blues and classic rock music. He has recorded seven CDs of blues-rock music as the Peter Rist Band.
He discovered the classical guitar in London in his twenties and developed a love of Renaissance and Baroque music and of the Vihuela, Lute and Theorbo. Largely self-taught, though for several years a student of the Franco-Greek guitarist Catherine Liolios, he now writes only for the classical guitar, and views his compositions as 21st-century descendants of the Renaissance and Baroque traditions.
