Aleksander Wilgos
Classical guitarist, arranger and guitar teacher. He specializes in creating original and challenging guitar transcriptions. Some of them are recorded on the album ‘Preludes’ which contains pieces by J. Ph. Rameau, J. Brahms, A. Scriabin, K. Szymanowski and others. Crafting guitar transcriptions was also the topic of his PhD thesis.
Aleksander obtained a diploma from the Frederic Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw with a ‘Magna Cum Laude’ medal in 2008. Subsequently, he studied at the Music Conservatory in Maastricht with Professor Carlo Marchione.
He won many awards in guitar competitions. They were, among others, the 1st Prize at the International Guitar Competition in Sinaia (Romania, 2008) and the 1st Prize at the Cz. Droździewicz International Guitar Competition in Krynica-Zdrój (Poland, 2006). He is also a laureate of the scholarship programme ‘The Young Poland’ and scholarship of the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
Aleksander is also interested in music production and composition. In 2024, he is planning to release a few of his compositions that combine classical guitar with electronic sounds.
