Stephen Murphy
Stephen (Steve) Murphy is a composer, performer, arranger and educator from Newfoundland, Canada. He studied performance at Acadia University under Eugene Cormier, and at Memorial University of Newfoundland under Sylvie Proulx. His works have been featured in film and theatre, and have been performed at festivals and symposiums across Canada.
Steve’s concert works include, among numerous others, Hypostasis of the Archons, recorded by Ben Diamond on his album Prime, and Sonata Terra, published by Bergmann Edition in 2022. His pedagogical works include Three Expressive Studies, a set of studies focusing on tone production, expressive tempo and dynamic control, and Ascension, a set of four pieces focusing on performance practice and interpretation.
