Slovenian-born (Madrid based) Sanja Pohl entered a state music school in her hometown at age 8, studying piano and guitar. She continued her guitar studies at the Music Conservatory in Maribor, the University of Ljubljana, the Rostock University of Music and Theatre, Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and University Mozarteum in Salzburg. Sanja is the recipient of more than 30 international awards including first prizes at Córdoba Guitar Festival, Ivor Mairants Award (London) and Seville International Guitar Competition. She wrote her first compositions for guitar and other instruments as a teenager, but then mostly focused on her development as a concert guitarist. Currently, she is working on several new compositions and studying composition under the tutelage of Cuban-Spanish composer Eduardo Morales-Caso.
