Marilena Cucchiara was born in Salemi, Italy in 1993. She started her guitar studies at "A. Scontrino" in Trapani, where she graduated in March 2018 with the maximum score, under the guidance of the Masters Nello Alessi and Luca Lucini. She attended numerous masterclasses with the most important names on the international guitar scene, including Matteo Mela, Letizia Guerra, Rovshan Mamedkuliev, Cristoph Denoth, Margarita Escarpa, Antonio Rugolo, Andrea De Vitis and many others.
Marilena has participated in numerous international guitar festivals, including the international festival "Tiempo de Guitarras", "Sciacca Classic Fest", "Norma Musica Festival" and many others. She also played for many Sicilian and non-Sicilian associations like "Friends of Music Association" of Calatafimi-Segesta and Giardini Naxos, "F. Chopin Association" of Castellammare del Golfo, "Seminary Academy" of Norma, and "Sikano Fest" of Santa Ninfa.
Marilena also attended several masters in orchestral conducting and musical propaedeutics, an activity she currently deals with, as one of the few Sicilian masters specialized in this field.
In 2018 the opera "Aguizotes" by the Costa Rican composer Jose Arias and to two guitar compositions by the guitarist and actor Sergio Coldagelli was dedicated to her.
Marilena Cucchiara proved to be among the best guitar graduates of 2018. For about two years she has composed for guitar, publishing with various Italian publishing houses, and now with Bergmann Edition.
For the time being, she is actively dealing with teaching.
