Collection: Lytle, Solomon
Solomon Lytle wrote his first "song cycle" at age 10, but did not take up the guitar until after high school. His first lessons were in Maritime Canada with the pop guru, Rob Cormier, French Canadian classical guitarist Rhon Gallant, and then in Pittsburgh with jazz guitar teacher, John McLaughlin.
Lytle’s public debut was in 1996 at Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico, and he concertized in New Mexico, Spain and northern Italy from 1997-2000. While in Europe he began writing more extended instrumental pieces - e.g., "Three Fantasies for Guitar and Oboe" (1999). In 2004 he earned his Grade 10 Guitar Performance Certificate with First Class Honors from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He was also awarded the Silver Medal (Top Prize) for his region.
Lytle studied classical guitar under Carol van Feggellen (Dalhousie University), Brian Mancini (New England Conservatory), Michael Scott (Dalhousie University), Jeffrey McFadden (University of Toronto), Baroque Lute Master Michel Cardin (Montreal Conservatory), and Douglas Reach (Dalhousie University). He has played in guitar master-classes in Italy, Canada and the USA for distinguished guitarists such as Alirio Diaz, David Russell and Fabio Zanon. He gave his first full-length recital in 2005 at the Universite de Moncton, NB, Canada.
