Andrew Williams, Remember
Remember is a moody reflective piece in E minor with a sunnier middle section in G major. The great difficulty in playing this piece is the left hand stretches - one of them is from third fret on the fifth string to eighth fret on the second.
The characteristic sound of the piece comes from the fact that the melody is played across strings, like a harp. The player must pick out the melody from a combination of stopped and open strings. There is also a compelling rhythmic figure underlying the first part, which feels like the flow of a river. As so often with the composer, the piece has a cinematic feel.
