'Near Dark' captures the atmosphere of nightfall in the Northern countryside.  It has a resonant arpeggiated introduction, followed by a chordal transitional section.  The central section is a dark melody with counterpoint in a minor key, with a warm nostalgic resolution. Open strings and dropped D tuning bring out long, sustained, deep resonance in the guitar.  The effect overall is haunting.
