‘Into the Morning Sun’ is a lively piece with a jaunty rhythm. It cycles through E major, A major, D major and back to E major, with a lot of harmonic ground covered in between. It has elements of baroque counterpoint, a relentless forward movement and a strong melodic line. It’s not an easy piece to play, but highly satisfying for the performer and listener.
