‘Grasshopper’ was originally written as a technical exercise for right-hand fingering but took on a life of its own.  The melody is in triplets played a, m, i throughout.  It is exuberant and inventive, going through change after change and ending with some lively rasgueado-style chordal work. The piece is some sort of hybrid of zapateado, tarantella and Neapolitan folk-song
