Alfonso Maria de’ Liguori, Quanno nascette ninno
arranged for solo guitar by Edoardo Catemario.
"Quanno nascette Ninno", also called with the name "Pastorale", was written in Neapolitan language perhaps in December 1754 in Nola or, according to some, in Deliceto by Alfonso Maria de 'Liguori , who was the first person to use the Neapolitan for religious songs. Originally the song was called For the birth of Jesus, the name with which it was published in the year 1816.
