Three pieces by Turlough O’Carolan arranged for solo guitar by Alan Grundy.
Carolan's Shamrock
This title occurred to me as I contemplated arranging some of Carolan's tunes for the guitar. Since Carolan's music comes to us through time as melody only, these arrangements have been harmonised by myself. I wanted to create a group of his works that would make an agreeable and informative representation of the beauty of his music. As with the distinctive three leaves of the Shamrock, I would suggest performing all three pieces as a group (as they are set in the standard format of Fast – Slow – Fast). However, they can, of course, be played individually if the performer so wishes.
