McGuire wrote this melody as part of The Poet's Return for harpist Hannah Phillips in 2009 to celebrate Burns' 1787 tour of the Scottish Highlands, commissioned by Inverness Arts Forum. He then created flute & guitar version for the Boyle-Klofver Duo.
