J.S.Bach, Sonata for Flute and Harpsichord, BWV 1032
Arranged for guitar trio by Hans Ovesen.
The Sonata for Flute and Harpsichord by Johann Sebastian Bach (BWV 1032) is in three movements, Vivace, Largo e Dolce and Allegro. Unfortunately, the original manuscript in Bach’s handwriting, the so-called “Urtext”, is incomplete. In the first movement, 46 measures are missing or illegible. Because of this, the first movement is left out in the present arrangement for three guitars.
However, the lyrical Largo e Dolce movement followed by the forceful and merry Allegro works well as a musical unity, and the flute and harpsichord voices sound bright and clear when transformed into a guitar trio.
