‘Sonata Insular’ is the third sonata for guitar by the composer Juan Erena.
This composition, written in three movements, is inspired by the island of Tenerife.
The first movement, named the ‘Caminos del Guanche’, is a sonata form about the island's ancient aborigines.
The second movement is lyrical and melodious, inspired by the Anaga rural park.
The third movement is a rondo, where the initial theme is a textual quote from one of the most important folk genres of the Canary Islands, the Canarian folia.
