J.S.Bach, Partita n°2 BWV 1004
BACH COLLECTION by Marek Wegrzyk
The last movement of the Partita n°2 for violin by J. S. Bach, the Ciaccona, has fascinated generations of musicians. It is considered one of the greatest pieces ever
composed.
Writing to his friend Clara Schumann about his piano transcription for the left hand of this monumental piece, Brahms said: “On one stave, for a small instrument, this man expressed a world of the deepest thoughts and most powerful emotions. If I were to imagine creating, or simply conceiving of such a piece, I am quite certain that the excess of excitement and emotional turmoil would drive me to madness."
