'Rhymes' is a solo piece for classical guitar. It has a simple introductory melody that sounds like a child's nursery rhyme, but as it develops it grows darker and more mournful. The central section modulates into a new key and introduces some unsettled cadences, before the piece returns to its first subject and gains tempo to the end. There is some difficult work at the top end of the fingerboard for the guitarist.
