“Gotas de lluvia” is an impressionistic piece, full of suggestion and allusion. Its stark beginning presents the imposing nature of water. That image soon softens, working towards a calmness through a syncopated section in which rhythmic basses stabilize the pulse; the rhythm then disguises itself in subtle metric shifts, while the melody weaves subtly around it like the tracks of raindrops running down a window.
