I wrote this piece as a gift to my wife, Ella, on our first wedding anniversary. In writing it, I drew much inspiration from the oceanic setting of my hometown on Vancouver Island. Stuck at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, we often found ourselves exploring Victoria's many beaches. At night, the moon reflects against the ocean surface and casts a dim, bluish natural light, creating a mood of quiet tranquillity. The lush harmonies and plodding rhythms of this piece are reminiscent of the gentle ebb and flow of waves lapping against the rugged coastline.
