Etienne Candela

Etienne Candela is a French classical guitar soloist, and also baroque guitar and theorbo player. He likes to explore a broad repertoire with varied styles and periods. After earning a degree in Musicology, Etienne Candela entered the National Conservatory of Paris in Roland Dyens’s class and obtained the First Prize with the unanimity of the jury. He also trained with significant figures of the lute and the guitar as J.M.Roulet, T.Chagnot, Göran Söllscher, Caroline Delume, Carel Harms, Eric Bellocq and Beatrice Pornon. Also, Etienne benefited from the advice of Gérard Abiton, Olivier Chassain and Alberto Ponce.

His eclectic repertoire trends to baroque and contemporary music, and he also explores different chamber ensembles. Passionate pedagogue, Etienne obtained the “Certificat d’Aptitude” in the CNSMdP, and teaches guitar in the Conservatory of Chateauroux, and many courses and masterclasses.
