“The title Alma de Lejos refers to a musical empathy I shared with an accordionist from the Litoral region; we crossed paths two or three times ‘guitarreando’ together. Our music became friends, and over time and distance, we couldn’t continue meeting and learning from each other’s distinct regional styles. That experience, along with the good fortune of meeting you in Neuquén several years ago, inspired me when you suggested I write something for your repertoire. My starting point for this piece was to try to create something beyond the northern and chayero styles, which are typically what I write and play most often.”
Alma de Lejos is a beautiful Litoraleña that showcases the richness of Argentine music and the craftsmanship of a great composer, revealing Chazarreta’s profound understanding of harmony and melodic creativity.
