Welcome to these five pieces for solo guitar. They consist of:
Phantasy Waltz. A short musette style waltz with a strong melody line and arpeggio accompaniment.
Pas Maintenant. Another short piece, somewhat reminiscent of Satie. I have always thought of this piece as accompanying the end of a French Film.
When I get to Heaven. A longer piece based of a blues motif with a
central section of flowing and interlocking musical fragments.
John Hardy’s English Friends. This is largely based on the American
“clawhammer“ picking style. It explores the inner journey of the condemned man in the song John Hardy through a number of musical
episodes or settings.
Those Mysterious ways. A lengthy and complex piece based on a haunting
E minor/F# theme that reoccurs from time to time throughout the piece. Again, it takes the player and the listener on something of a journey
through a series of solved and unsolved incidents.
While I was writing these pieces I played them on both nylon-strung and steel-strung guitars. In my opinion they can be played successfully on both types of instrument. John Hardy’s English Friends can also work on a 12-string guitar.

I hope you enjoy the pieces
