Æ Viskestykk’

Sønderho – with its picturesque streets and houses and its location on the isle of Fanø – has its own unbroken tradition of music and dance, and is currently one of Denmark’s great centres for traditional culture.

At a young age, Mads Kjøller-Henningsen is already a prominent folk musician in Denmark.  He wrote this lovely melody while living on the island himself.

The tune is completely in the tradition, and yet new and refreshing with its charming simplicity. I fell in love with it, and while playing around with it, it led me into this set of variations which grew out of its hidden energy to form a unity.

Huge thanks to Mads for lending his tune to all of us guitarist to enrich our lives.
