Juan Erena is a Spanish composer, arranger and guitarist  whose music has been performed in more than 25 countries, including Spain, the United States and Mexico. His work is distinguished by a highly personal musical language in which Mediterranean tradition, jazz aesthetics and contemporary classical writing converge naturally, creating music of strong lyrical character, harmonic richness and rhythmic vitality.

With the guitar at the centre of much of his creative output, Erena explores the dialogue between tradition and innovation through a refined use of colour, texture and melody. Rather than quoting stylistic elements, his compositions integrate modal and jazz-influenced harmonic language, improvisatory freedom and contemporary compositional techniques into an expressive and accessible musical discourse. His music reflects a constant search for beauty, communication and cultural identity, while remaining open to new artistic perspectives.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Musical Composition and is a Full Member of the Academy of Music of Spain, as well as a member of the Andalusian Academy of Performing Arts. Alongside his activity as a composer, he has developed an extensive career as a guitarist, educator, conductor, lecturer and artistic collaborator in numerous educational and interdisciplinary projects.

His works are published internationally and performed by distinguished soloists and ensembles in concert halls and festivals around the world. Recent recordings featuring his music have received international recognition, including the Latin Grammy Award nomination for the album Brouwer, Erena & Others: Guitar Works, performed by Ausiàs Parejo in the Best Classical Album category.

Combining the expressive depth of Mediterranean musical traditions with the harmonic sophistication of jazz and the possibilities of contemporary composition, Juan Erena has established a distinctive artistic voice that seeks to build bridges between cultures, styles and audiences.
