Roberto Rubio
Roberto Rubio qualified as a music theorist and composer from the Universidad de los Andes (Bogota, Colombia) and gained a master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He is a founding member and harpsichord player in EXTEMPORE, a Colombian early music ensemble, with whom he has performed many times in Colombia, Chile, Canada, Egypt and Lebanon, among other countries. He has taken early music interpretation classes with Patrick Ayrton, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, John Holloway, Combattimento Consort of Amsterdam, The Purcell Quartet, Kuijken Trío, Juan Manuel Estévez and Elizabeth Wright. As for orchestral conducting, he has studied with Helmuth Rilling, George Hurst, Julian Lombana and Guerassim Voronkov. In addition to his activities as performer, conductor and composer, he works as a professor of music theory, counterpoint and orchestration at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
