Claude Debussy, Clair de lune 
A collection of five pieces by Claude Debussy arranged for solo guitar by Rod Whittle.

Two of the pieces in this publication have been transcribed from solo piano works: the famous ‘Clair de Lune’ and 'La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin'. ‘En Bateau’ is taken from the ‘Petite Suite’, a suite for piano four hands in four movements.

The excerpt 'Golaud's Letter' from early in Debussy's only opera, the hugely influential ‘Pelleas and Melisande’, demonstrates Debussy's mastery of mood and drama. Exquisite without being flowery, forceful but not overblown, the Letter's spoken voice recitative style is a natural accompaniment to the Letter's contents, while the general restraint accentuates cadences. The lovely Coda from the same opera is a fitting way to conclude this compilation.
