Already used during the Renaissance, this technique was particularly developed during the Baroque period by Heinrich Biber in his Rosary Sonatas for violin, where no less than 14 different scordature were used.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eScordatura increases the sonorous range of the instrument and facilitates the performance of certain chords and fingerings impossible to achieve with normal tuning.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe advantage is that it makes our perception of the musical discourse extremely clear.
