He obtained a Master's Degree in Composition with Honorable Mention from UNAM with his symphonic work Cycle of Life and Death that was premiered by the National Symphonic Orchestra at the 33rd International Forum of New Music Manuel Enríquez. He has composed more than 130 works, which have been performed in Mexico, Europe, the United States, Canada, Asia, Australia and Latin America, and have been recorded on over twenty-three CDs. He has received numerous grants from the National Endowment for Culture and Art (FONCA) and in 2001, 2004 and 2010 he was chosen to be in the National System of Creators of Art. After composing the Canción de Cuna, I decided to complete a suite with four contrasting pieces: I. Canción de cuna, II. Vals, III. Nocturno, IV. Danza. “Lullaby” is a tender and expressive piece; the cantabile aspect is also explored in the third piece, “Nocturno,” with an introspective and nostalgic character. The second piece “Vals” evokes with a current perspective, this typical dance form of the 19th century.
