The gift of composition has led him to seek ideas outside the normal parameters of the classical guitar. It is a well-balanced piece with a very strong melody that pleases the ear. It gives the listener a pleasant feeling, something that could have been composed in the Classical period and this explains the title.

L'Alba
I wrote this music in 1993 during a difficult period when my Focal Dystonia problem was at its peak.I would use it as an exercise to try and get my deteriorating arpeggios going again. It eventually developed into a very soft and dreamy piece that had for me a message of hope. This is why I called it Alba (Sunrise) as it represented for me a new beginning.

Vals 1
Is a very typical South American composition in some way since I was inspired by great composers like Antonio Lauro, H. They are also dedicated to a particular period of modern Rome starting from the 50s after WWII. The Preludes are a view of that Rome to which in part I had the joy to experience and feel. It was the city of the Italian cinema (Cinecitta’), we will never forget great directors like F. Fellini with his visionary dreamlike films or S. Leone with his spaghetti westerns just to mention two of them. So many great actors both Italian and from other countries came to Rome. Many made it their permanent home, while others reached glory in their own countries (like Clint Eastwood) thanks to Cinecitta’. Rome also represented writers, poets, painters, the Italian way of living with its fashion, food and exquisite taste for the “good life”. It was also the Rome of political unrest and social problems, the capital of Italy that still today takes upon itself all the responsibility of its past, present and future. The Preludes of Rome are my way of saying “Grazie Roma” thank you Rome, a small token of gratitude just like giving roses to the woman of your life!

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0023/1718/9173/products/Duranti_Preludes_of_Rome_Full_score_Page1_0.jpg?v=1532609769
