At the age of 16, I discovered the guitar . . . but not the classical guitar. At that time the guitar was a kind of liberating instrument; everywhere young people with long hair were sitting in parks playing it.\u003cbr\u003eAttending a Ralph Towner concert about five years later finally brought me to the classical guitar. I started classical guitar lessons and learnt there was such a thing as an apoyando. I practiced all the standard etudes.\u003cbr\u003eAfter that, I completed a degree in guitar and music education at the University of Music in Vienna.
